Stephen James Consulting is recruiting an experienced Interim Care Director to provide leadership across an elderly care home portfolio.
This opportunity will suit a credible, hands-on care leader who can identify priorities quickly, support operational colleagues and turn improvement plans into lasting results.
The role
You will provide direction on care quality, clinical governance and risk, working with leadership teams to maintain safe, person-centred services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing care standards, identifying risks and establishing clear improvement priorities.
- Strengthening clinical governance, safeguarding and quality assurance.
- Supporting CQC compliance and readiness for inspection.
- Leading service improvement and turnaround programmes where required.
- Coaching home and regional leaders to build confidence, capability and accountability.
- Providing clear reporting on progress, risks and outcomes to senior stakeholders.
- Embedding improvements that teams can sustain beyond the assignment.
About you
We’re keen to hear from established care leaders with:
- Senior leadership experience across a multi-site elderly care portfolio.
- A proven track record in care quality, CQC compliance and clinical governance.
- Experience delivering measurable service improvements and supporting homes through change.
- Strong judgement in managing risk and prioritising action.
- The ability to engage teams, challenge constructively and build effective working relationships.
Previous experience as a Care Director, Quality Director, Clinical Director or equivalent senior leader would be particularly relevant.
